So this is my debut into the blogging world and i'm rather excited! I'm obsessed with all things makeup fashion and beauty related and hope to share this passion with all of you.
So here goes...
AOFM REVIEW
About a year ago I decided that I hated my job and wanted a change in career. After many sleepless nights I decided that I would leave the banking world and do what I love most...train to become a makeup artist. The Academy of Freelance Makeup was my destination.
The academy or AOFM is based in Soho in London, they also have a school in Paris and New York.
In their own words AOFM is one of the most famous and unrivaled fashion, editorial, catwalk and bridal makeup academies in London. It is sponsored by all the big makeup brands including MAC, BENEFIT, BOBBI BROWN, NARS, MAKEUP FOREVER, ST TROPEZ...the list is endless.
I decided to do the Total Pro course which is over four weeks and is designed to give you a competitive edge over other makeup artists as you will be able to offer four skills rather than one. On the first day we met Jana who is the owner and head of education at AOFM along with both his assistants. They spoke to us about what we would be doing over the next four weeks and also presented us with our brushes which was exciting :)
Over the next four weeks we met the most amazing and talented makeup artists, hair stylist's and nail specialists. The academy ensures that all the teachers are the best in the country giving us exposure to a variety of styles from contemporary to avant-garde. We also got to use lots of expensive make up on a daily basis.
At the end of the second week we had a shopping day where we visited the MAC PRO store along with a few others where we got to buy makeup which was discounted because of the school. The same weekend we had a photoshoot with professional models, a hairstylist and photographer which was so much fun!
I would recommend this course to anyone wanting to become a makeup artist! It was the best thing I have ever done and was incredibly inspiring being taught by so many talented makeup artists. If that wasn't good enough I have made some lovely friends along the way :)
